Overview: Unintuitive traffic patterns at 2nd Ave., Linden, Seminary Road and Place, and the Linden/Brookville interchange result in accidents, and don’t provide for safe pedestrian access. The Master Plan, authored by Park and Planning, proposed changes that have yet to be acted upon seven years later.
Actions Taken: In 2004, LCA wrote to the county executive about these conditions and received assurance that the project would move forward with a facilities planning study in ‘07 and implementation in ‘08 or ‘09. We followed-up with DPWT in spring '07, and requested the assistance of Council member Valerie Ervin to ensure pedestrian concerns and neighborhood character were considered in addition to “traffic flow along Seminary Road.” In fall 2007 DPWT held a public meeting to get community feedback on their proposed solutions. LCA distributed the proposals to all Linden homes and included a survey for residents to voice their preferences. All survey results were forwarded to the county. A second public meeting was held by DPWT in March 2008 with one of the previously presented options and a new concept.
Results: The second round of concepts is currently out for public comment. LCA will be collecting residents' input and distributing to the county. You are also encouraged to submit your own input. A copy of the 2 proposals brought forward in the public meeting are linked below.
